Application:
From onset of acute pain i.e. acute/sciatica (each session should last 45 to 60 minutes)
Week 1: eyery 3 hours – 3 to 4 sessions a day
Week 2: 2 to 3 sessions a day
Week 3/4: 2 sessions a day (around noon and in the evening)
Afterwards you should lay daily 60 minutes. – The best time is in the evening before you go to bed. During the sleep happens only low pressures and the elasticity and regeneration can be hold up to the get up in the morning.
After the initial 3/4 weeks, it is advised to use the orthosis for at least 45-60 minutes a day. This should be done in the evening, anywhere between 6 PM and going to bed. The orthosis should be used only on flat, rigid surfaces, ideally on the ground. It is possible to use it on top of your mattress if you place a wooden board inbetween the mattress and the orthosis. This way, it can be used directly before going to sleep, or when getting up from the ground has proven to be difficult for you.
Please be aware that supporting the lower leg support with additional cushions is not advised. The exact height of the lower leg support is important for a succesful treatment with the Recumbency Orthosis 18%.
The system’s design allows air circulation, so users are advised to cover up with a blanket to help achieve a deep, relaxed state. Light and natural clothing should be worn, (no synthetics) to maximise traction and avoid slipping. An uncomfortable sensation may be felt after use when standing, due to reloading pressure back on the spine. This should dissipate shortly after. Even with an existing spinal bracing the Recumbency Orthosis 18% should not be used postoperatively during 6 months, and never without supervision of a therapist!
